Charles William Guthier, a 56-year-old man from Quakertown, has been sentenced to extensive prison time after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. On February 28, Guthier received an 11 to 24-year sentence for disseminating child sexual abuse material, possession of child pornography, and the criminal use of a communication facility, as reported by Bucks County officials.
The sentencing, handed down by Common Pleas Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr., outlines consecutive prison terms: five to 10 years for the first count, another five to 10 years, for the second and 1 to 4 years for the third. Guthier, now classified as a Tier III sex offender, will be subject to Megan’s Law and must register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
Investigation into Guthier's activities began in October 2023 when a sergeant from the Warrington Township Police Department was working on an online case. The officer uncovered illegal file-sharing activities linked to a host computer, which led to Guthier's arrest. In total, 71 files labeled as child sexual abuse material were identified, notes the Bucks County report.
Guthier's guilty plea in September came after a confrontation with the evidence compiled against him by law enforcement officials. These materials, commonly known as child pornography, signify a distressing breach of the law and moral codes, that protect the most vulnerable in society. Following his prison term, Guthier's life will be irrevocably changed due to the Megan’s Law stipulation ensuring constant monitoring post-incarceration.
