Raleigh, NC—It seems that the city's gardeners have spoken, and their preference is as clear as the changing of the season: dyed mulch is in unprecedented demand. As reported by the City of Raleigh, the Yard Waste Center has exhausted its stock of dyed brown, black, and red mulches for the spring. The scramble for these colorful garden accents has pushed the Center's operational limits, halting the production of dyed mulches altogether.
Those late to the party, looking to adorn their gardens with a splash of color, will find the shelves barren until further notice. While dyed options are off the table, the Center reminds residents that its other products remain at the ready—organic, leaf, and undyed mulches—and are eagerly waiting for homeowners to make the sustainable choice. The out-of-stock situation may disappoint, having trucks or trailers, you can still swing by for the undyed alternatives.
In a nod to environmental advocacy, the Yard Waste Center is planning an Earth Day initiative designed to spread both joy and sustainable gardening practices. Starting from April 22 till the end of May, the center will be celebrating Earth Day and International Compost Awareness by giving away free organic mulch and leaf mulch. Residents are encouraged to leverage these resources to enhance their gardens without the use of synthetic dyes.
