
The Georgia Department of Corrections has a new face stepping into the role of authority at Rutledge State Prison. Announced just yesterday, Ryan Beland who has served as Special Assistant to the Warden, will see a promotion to the position of Warden starting from April 1, and in this capacity, he will oversee the prison's staff and manage the approximate 608 male offenders within its confines.
Commissioner Tyrone Oliver expressed his confidence in Beland's abilities for refining the facility's operations, stating in an official release, "Ryan has worked his way up through the ranks and excelled at each position he has held with the agency," adding "We are confident that his experience and professionalism will serve him well while he continues to uphold the GDC mission as Warden at Rutledge SP." Beland's career within the GDC began back in 2011 where he started as a Correctional Officer and ascended through positions like Counselor, Senior Counselor, and Assistant Superintendent, showing through every step with his credentials and training that he was preparing for larger responsibilities to come.
According to the Georgia Department of Corrections website, Beland's resume impresses with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a Master of Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University, and a plethora of departmental training that includes, but not limited to, Basic Correctional Officer Training, Crisis Intervention Team Training, and Warden's Pre-Command Training.
