A tragic incident over the weekend claimed the life of a Southern California man after a motorcycle crash in Apple Valley. Andrew Herrera, a 33-year-old residing in San Bernardino County, was fatally injured when he lost control of his vehicle, according to reports from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and local emergency services.

The crash took place at approximately 7:32 p.m. last Saturday, as Herrera maneuvered a blue 2024 Yamaha XTZ 690 eastbound along a dirt easement near Otoe and Cheyenne Road. Not wearing a helmet, the motorcycle flipped and Herrera was ejected, suffering significant injuries.

Responders found Herrera critically injured and an ambulance rushed him to a local hospital; however, despite medical efforts, he passed away from the crash-induced traumas. In a statement obtained by KTLA, officials did not comment on potential factors such as impairment or illegal racing related to the accident. The unfortunate event prompted the closure of Otoe Road between Quantico and Navajo roads for around three hours while the scene was processed by the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) of the SBSD.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and M.A.I.T are conducting ongoing investigations and have yet to release further details anyone with pertinent information or those who might have witnessed the event, are encouraged to reach Deputy S.
