A high-speed chase through Lafayette ended with a crash and the arrest of a San Francisco man after Lafayette police officers were conducting a search for a reckless driver. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Delvente Murry, nearly struck an officer on a motorcycle before leading authorities on a pursuit that concluded with a collision on Mt. Diablo Road. No injuries were reported during the incident.
The chase began on Wednesday around 3:43 PM. After Murry's vehicle abruptly stopped due to the crash, officers apprehended him at the scene. The Contra Costa Sheriff's Office later revealed that Murry's car contained stolen goods from a drugstore and several supermarkets. The pilfered items painted a damning picture of Murry's afternoon escapades before his encounter with the law.
Murry now faces a series of charges, including felony evading, hit and run, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of stolen property. Following the arrest, Murry was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. The seriousness of his alleged crimes is reflected in the fact that he is currently being held without bail.
