The firefighting operation emerged as the first engine company arrived in under 2 minutes. They discovered the fire had ignited atop the roof of Press Cleaners. In a move of urgency, the fire responding to the call upgraded to bring in additional resources. A ground ladder was deployed to access the roof and begin the initial attack on the fire. Concurrently, as detailed in a social media post by the Santa Rosa Fire Department, another firefighting unit entered the business to find a fire well-established inside.
According to SFGate, the truck company tried to cut open the building's roof, a standard maneuver to ventilate smoke and heat during structural fires. Unfortunately, Press Cleaners suffered considerable damage despite the fire being controlled within approximately 30 minutes. A fire investigator was called to examine the scene. Though the investigation remains ongoing, initial assessments suggest that the fire's cause was accidental.
