The City of Scottsdale has received the 2025 CIO 100 Award for its use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the public sector through its Short-Term Rental Resource Center. Chief Information Officer Bianca Lochner stated, "Receiving the CIO 100 Award reflects our team's unwavering dedication to innovation, cross-departmental collaboration and exceptional service delivery," according to the City of Scottsdale.
The Short-Term Rental Resource Center utilizes geospatial analytics and real-time data to identify short-term rentals properties and manage compliance. This approach improves enforcement efficiency and increases transparency for residents. The integration of real-time data also enhances communication between residents and property owners. In a statement to CIO, content director Elizabeth Cutler said, "The CIO 100 Awards celebrate visionary IT leaders who drive transformation and achieve measurable business outcomes through technology," as reported by the City of Scottsdale.
Scottsdale has been recognized with a prestigious award for its technological initiative. Cutler stated that “Scottsdale’s initiative exemplifies the groundbreaking impact and strategic excellence we recognize and celebrate.” The city will be formally honored at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards ceremony in August, where its project will be featured alongside other award recipients on CIO’s website. Residents can find the Short-Term Rental Resource Center by searching for “vacation and short-term rentals” on the City of Scottsdale website.
