The search is on for an arsonist in Corona who, in a fiery blunder, set not just a vehicle ablaze but also himself during an early Tuesday incident. KTLA reports that the Riverside County suspect, who is still at large, was captured on a Ring camera during an attempt to torch a vehicle on the 900 block of Wakefield Avenue; the flames quickly turned on him, sending him running down the street as his clothes continued to burn.

Authorities arrived to find the vehicle engulfed in flames, a sight that also brought moderate damage to a residence's front yard, according to the Corona Fire Department's Instagram post. The suspect, who fled the scene in a possible white Chevrolet or GMC truck with tinted windows and light-colored rims, is described as a male in his 30s, standing between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall with a medium build and shoulder-length light-colored hair, the fire department described in an Instagram post.

The Corona Police Department has joined forces with the fire department in their hunt for this self-scorching suspect; they emphasize that any information could be vital. As stated in NBC Los Angeles, those who possess details about the incident or might have captured video footage are strongly encouraged to contact Corona Fire Investigator Travis Boan via email at [email protected] or by phone at 951-736-2219.

While the suspect's immediate whereabouts and condition after the incident remain unknown, the Corona community has been left with the physical scars of his haphazard crime. The authorities are urging the public to help in identifying and locating this man.
