
A cache of weapons and a stolen car were secured by Seattle Police after the arrest of an 18-year-old man yesterday, as reported by the Seattle Police Department Blotter; the suspect, a thrice convicted felon, was caught sleeping in the car surrounded by guns and ammo when police responded to a tip from a vigilant citizen. According to the Seattle Police Department official police report, patrol officers headed to Northgate's 11000 block of 5th Avenue Northeast around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, finding the young man in repose amid an arsenal.
The suspect was in a Hyundai believed to be stolen and was seemingly using it as a makeshift armory, he was detained without incident, the officers recovered two stolen handguns, quantities of both handgun and shotgun ammunition, along with shotgun bandoliers, various magazines, and knives; the array of seized goods now sits as evidence with the Seattle Police Department. The young man, whose identity has not been released, was booked on several firearms charges and is considered a potential suspect in a November 2024 armed robbery of a convenience store, this case is still active and being investigated by the Robbery Unit.
The suspect, who was legally prohibited from owning firearms due to a long criminal history, had built up a collection of weapons. His sleep among the weapons was interrupted when law enforcement arrived. He also had a $20,075 warrant out for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, adding to his legal troubles as he was taken to King County Jail, as per the Seattle Police Department. It’s still unclear if the arrest will provide more details about the November convenience store robbery, as the Robbery Unit continues to investigate.
