Sevier County is seeing relief from brush fires as rain helps to control the situation. The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency's post on Facebook confirmed that after a difficult night, the situation is improving with the help of rainfall. The fires, fueled by dry weather and strong winds, caused damage to two structures but are now under control.
The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency wrote, "Crews worked diligently throughout the overnight hours to respond to multiple brushfires across Sevier County." The update mentioned that conditions near Pittman Center/Webb Mountain remained volatile, although evacuations had been lifted. Residents and visitors were urged to stay vigilant.
The First Baptist Church Annex, which served as a temporary relocation site, has stopped operations due to improved conditions.
Recent rainfall played a critical role in helping to control the fires. The update noted that the precipitation helped dampen flames that were previously aggravated by dry weather. However, the agency reminded the community of the ongoing high fire danger.
