As the Krewe of Lul parade nears, excitement is building in St. Charles Parish, but there are important parking and traffic rules to keep in mind. The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office reminds everyone to park carefully. Vehicles left along the parade route before noon the day before or after noon the day of the parade will violate local laws.
Vehicles are also prohibited from obstructing public spaces with taped-off areas or physical barriers. These regulations extend to private landowners who should not attempt to unrightfully claim public lands. The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office clearly mandated, "No vehicle may be parked along the parade route and in place before 12:00 noon the day before the parade or left in place after 12:00 noon the day following the parade."
Moreover, there is a strict 24-hour limit on parking motorized vehicles, trailers, or watercraft along the West Bank Mississippi River Levee right-of-way, stretching from the Jefferson Parish Line to the St. John the Baptist Parish line. Non-compliance with these rules can lead to a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) or even imprisonment for not more than thirty days, as reported by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office.
Should a vehicle remain in violation for more than forty-eight consecutive hours, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office reserves the right to have it towed at the owner's expense. "In addition to the above penalties, the sheriff's office shall have the right to have towed and stored at the owner's cost any vehicle that remains in violation of the above section for more than forty-eight (48) consecutive hours," the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook post warned. These measures are in place to maintain order during the festivity and ensure that the parade is remembered for its merriment, not the disarray that unchecked vehicles could bring.
