The City of St. Louis has just initiated a significant leap into the digital age with the launch of OneStopGov, a comprehensive online portal that aims to enrich the user experience for residents and businesses as they navigate municipal interactions, according to information from the City of St. Louis official announcement.
Effective immediately, OneStopGov, fueled by the American Rescue Plan Act, embarks on its journey by offering event organizers a more seamless method to secure necessary permits, eschewing the maze of physical forms, emails, and in-person visits that used to define this process and the portal is now accessible at onestopgov.stlouis-mo.gov with an impressive suite of features that include a streamlined application process, automatic routing to relevant departments, as well as digital payment capabilities—in fact Mayor Tishaura O. Jones expressed her commitment on the City of St. Louis, “I am committed to modernizing City services, and this is a great step forward for making interactions with the City more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly.”
OneStopGov brings with it the promise of digitized efficiency: 24/7 access to a permitting platform that combines the entire application experience into one digital space; this includes email notifications for application updates, and a system that enables users to save their progress and resume at their convenience. The new setup is set to expand, with future upgrades intended to include avenues for food and liquor vendors to integrate their services.
The introduction of OneStopGov not only simplifies the previously convoluted process but it also reflects an inclusive approach to municipal engagement by maintaining an alternative for those less digitally inclined or disenfranchised by the digital divide—individuals can still make appointments to handle permit applications in person at City Hall by contacting 314-589-6640, even though the city's system now offers 24/7 permit access and the user-friendly features consist of streamlined application, automatic routing, digital payment, email notifications, and the ability to save an application and complete it later.
