The Logan County Sheriff's Office had an unusual task at hand when several pigs were found East of Guthrie, in an area recently ravaged by fire. The animals were taken in, provided with care, and the Sheriff's Office turned to its social media to seek the rightful owners of these stranded swine.
"Pigs have been reunited with their humans!!!" exclaimed a post on their official Facebook page. The brief update followed an earlier request for help, where the locals were asked to quickly identify and come forward to claim the pigs. The animals had been comfortably settled into a makeshift pen filled with hay, awaiting their reunion with familiar faces from before the blaze.
A plea for public assistance was initially made with the hope that someone would recognize these wayward pigs. "Help us find these cute pigs’ owners," the Sheriff's Office urged, detailing that the pigs were found in the fire-affected area, neatly tucked into a bed of hay. They provided a contact in Undersheriff Dykes and a number to call, 405-282-4100, for any leads that might return the animals to their home.
The community's response appears to have been prompt and fruitful. In a digital landscape so often marred by contention and triviality, the successful reunion stands as a heartening reminder of the solidarity and shared purpose that can emerge in times of need.
