Street Beet, a vegan pop-up in Detroit, will take over the former Bobcat Bonnie's location in Corktown, following the closure of Bobcat Bonnie's earlier this week. Currently located at Third Street Bar, Street Beet is known for its plant-based versions of classic fast food items. Street Beet has transitioned from a pop-up to a permanent location, according to owner and chef Meghan Shaw, who said, "marks a huge step for us," as reported by The Detroit News.
The new spot will serve breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner daily, with a full bar and a variety of mocktails. The business will also host community events, including game nights and DJ performances, and feature a multifunctional space. A walk-up window will offer quick service for customers on the go, as detailed by WXYZ.
Washed Up Coffee, founded by Emily Potter and Amélie Haakonsen, will join Street Beet at their Corktown location, offering a multi-roaster coffee experience. The space will feature house-made pastries and be designed as a place to work, hang out, and connect. "With Street Beet serving up house-made pastries and the space designed as a welcoming spot to work, hang out, and connect – it's set to become a new favorite for coffee lovers and the community," according to FOX 2 Detroit. The opening date is not yet confirmed, and Street Beet will continue operating at Third Street Bar until moving to 1800 Michigan.
