More than six months after a fatal shooting rattled a Southeast DC community, authorities have made an arrest in the case. The Metropolitan Police Department announced that 36-year-old Korin Agnew was arrested on Sunday during what started as a routine traffic stop. The arrest took place in the Sixth District, and Agnew now faces charges of First Degree Murder while Armed.
The initial incident occurred on September 11, 2024, when MPD officers were called at around 10:06 a.m. to the 3700 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast. Upon their arrival at the residence, they located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, 20-year-old Korey Glasker of Southeast, DC, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the MPD engaged in an extensive investigation, culminating in the issuance of a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant for Agnew. The arrest has provided some closure to the community, which has been grappling with the violence that claimed the life of a young man described by those who knew him as full of potential.
While the circumstances that led to Glasker's death are yet to be fully disclosed, the arrest of Agnew signals a move towards justice in the case. In the arrest during a routine traffic stop, Agnew was located by officers and has since been charged, bringing a degree of resolution to an investigation over multiple months.
