Chaos unfolded in Coppell last Thursday when a suspect attempted carjacking in a business parking lot, eventually leading to a multi-vehicle crash and a successful theft of a second vehicle. The Coppell Police Department was alerted to the incident at approximately 5:40 pm.
The initial confrontation occurred in the 100 block of E SH-121 where the suspect demanded vehicular keys from an individual. Failing to secure the vehicle, the suspect caused a collision involving multiple vehicles while fleeing in another automobile. The suspect abandoned this car and subsequently approached another person in a parking lot at the 600 block of N Denton Tap Road. It is at this second location where the suspect succeeded in obtaining a vehicle.
The CPD has been actively canvassing the area since the report and is working in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies. Citizens have been advised to avoid the 600 block of N Denton Tap Road as investigations continue. The police department has urged anyone with information to come forward and assist by reaching out to Corporal D. Stanford of the CPD Criminal Investigations Division.
