Rock Hill and York residents in need of county services should brace for a slight disruption starting this week. Several offices, including the County Auditor, Tax Collection, and Veterans Affairs at the Heckle Complex in Rock Hill, have temporarily closed their doors for HVAC replacement.
As announced, these closures commenced today, and for those in need of these services, a trek to downtown York at the Government Center located at 6 S. Congress Street is now in order, where temporary accommodations have been made to assist with Auditor, Tax Collection Office, or Water/Sewer Payment and Application Center needs; in terms of Veterans Affairs, the staff will continue providing services, albeit remotely, and they can be contacted at 803-909-7525 for assistance.
According to information sourced from York County Government's official announcement, the Planning and Development Services office on Liberty Street is also undergoing HVAC replacement and has consequently relocated. Those looking for permitting staff can find them ensconced on the Government Center's fourth floor, room 4200, right near the elevators.
While the county has recognized the burden that these office closures may impose, having expressed regret for the inconvenience in their public statement, there's an anticipation that these interruptions will not be a flash in the pan, instead stretching over several months, the end of which can't come soon enough for those dependant on these vital government functions. York County officials have not specified a definitive end date for these renovations.
