In a recent crackdown on retail theft across Los Angeles County, Glendale Police Department detectives have taken three individuals into custody for their roles in an organized retail theft ring. The operation spanned multiple stores, where suspects Cheyla Ramirez, 49, Ruben Lepiz Campos, 19, and Rogelio Soriano, 27, were linked to a series of grand thefts.
According to the City of Glendale, the trio allegedly targeted Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls, stealing a substantial amount of goods over two months. The stolen items were then resold for profit - a common tactic in organized retail crime that not only impacts businesses but also contributes to a broader underground economy.
Investigators took note last Monday when Ramirez's vehicle was spotted in Glendale. In a coordinated effort with TJ Maxx's loss prevention team, police caught Ramirez and Campos in the act of shoplifting. After the arrest, police uncovered nearly $2,000 worth of stolen goods, burglary tools, and evidence of their resale operations, as detailed by the City of Glendale.
Continuing their dogged pursuit, detectives served warrants on Tuesday at two Los Angeles residences, which led to the arrest of Soriano and the recovery of an additional $6,700 in merchandise. The suspects, Ramirez, Campos, and Soriano, face charges of organized retail theft and related crimes, as per the City of Glendale.
