St. Johns County residents and visitors are being notified of a scheduled southbound lane closure on A1A South starting today, as part of an ongoing utility enhancement project. The lane closure, announced via St. Johns County's social media post, will kick off at 6:00 a.m. and is expected to extend through April 17 to facilitate the installation of new valves and piping near 3049 A1A South.
Although the southbound lane will undergo closure, traffic will still be permitted to move south on A1A throughout the duration of the work. Drivers are advised to carefully carefully follow all posted signs and crew instructions to ensure both worker and commuter safety. Acknowledging the potential inconvenience to pedestrians and cyclists, the County has prepared detours that will reroute foot and bike traffic from the western side of A1A to the eastern side while the designated sections are closed.
The closures are a part of a broader utility initiative by St. Johns County to revamp infrastructure services. For those interested in staying updated on utility-related developments, resources are made available via the St. Johns County Utilities Department Dashboard, where additional details and project statuses can be tracked. The County encourages the public to use the platform for insight into their utility projects.
The temporary disruption is a necessary step in ensuring the long-term reliability and function of the County's water infrastructure. As per the St. Johns County's announcement, "The closure will be near 3049 A1A South and is planned from March 31 - April 17."
