In a notable milestone for the Union County Sheriff's Office, Lt. Tabitha Rogers has recently distinguished herself as the first female officer from the office to graduate from the FBI National Academy. According to a social media post by the Union County Sheriff's Office, the 293rd session of the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, saw 244 law enforcement officers from across the United States and the world making it through the program.

The graduating class represented a broad coalition of professionals, drawn from 48 states, the District of Columbia, 24 countries, 11 military organizations, and four federal civilian organizations. Lt. Rogers, who embarked on her career with the UCSO back in 2001, and, is an assigned lieutenant for their Professional Standards Division.

The FBI National Academy is internationally recognized for its rigorous 10-week program focused on enhancing communication, leadership, and fitness training for experienced law enforcement officers. FBI Director Kash Patel addressed the graduates at the ceremony, while Joses Walehwa of the Brea Police Department spoke for the graduating class. The program boasts a team of FBI Academy instructors and staff with advanced degrees, many of whom are acknowledged experts in their respective fields.

Since its inception in 1935, the FBI National Academy has seen a total of 55,941 individuals complete the training which takes place, at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico. This is the very same facility where new FBI special agents and intelligence analysts are trained. The National Academy students have had the opportunity to earn both undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia since 1972. The institution accredits all courses offered as part of the program.

The completion of this academy is not just a personal achievement for Lt. Rogers but also a significant event for the Union County Sheriff's Office. They extended their congratulations in their announcement, inviting the public to also recognize Lt. Rogers's significant accomplishment in her law enforcement career.
