The Union County Sheriff's Office in Monroe, North Carolina, recently took to social media to celebrate a professional milestone achieved by two of its staff members. In a Facebook post dated yesterday, the sheriff's office applauded Krista Cahoon and Kristen Burns for their dedication to enhancing the human resources division within their department. Following a rigorous 14-week training, both members have now obtained their SHRM Certified Professional certification.
These certifications are more than just letters; they show expertise in human resource management, an important area for any organization, including law enforcement. To earn the certification, one must demonstrate knowledge in key areas like people, organization, workplace, and strategy. Under Sheriff Eddie Cathey, these two deputies, after many hours of study, now serve as examples of HR leadership and communication.
The sheriff's office improves HR processes and showcases its team's quality by certifying staff. While the certification is tough, having skilled HR employees is key to an effective law enforcement agency. The post ends with an invitation to "join us in congratulating them on this well-earned achievement," a statement obtained by the Union County Sheriff's Office.
