Wilmington law enforcement officials have made an arrest in connection with alleged drug activity, according to an announcement from the police. On a recent patrol, officers of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division observed what they deemed suspicious behavior in the 300 block of West 7th Street.
Surveillance led to an encounter with Wallace Sanchez, a 31-year-old man who, according to authorities, was found with small quantities of narcotics; the officers discovered .53 grams of crack cocaine and 1.17 grams of heroin upon him when they took him into custody on March 13 at approximately 2:16 p.m. and the suspect was apprehended without any reported altercations or incidents, as the situation remained largely under control.
The charges laid against Sanchez are significant, including two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, which indicates a situation beyond simple possession. Following these charges, Sanchez was brought before a court in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, where his bail was set at a steep $10,000, payable in cash only. Wilmington Police Department reports state that he is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
