
In a sobering discovery in East Shelby County, a woman was found deceased inside a submerged car, as reported by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) on Friday night. Initial reports from Action News 5 state that deputies responded to the scene near Grays Hollow Drive S. and Grays Mill Drive around 8 p.m. following a call about a sinking vehicle. Shelby County Fire Department crews were deployed with a boat, eventually discovering the submerged car in a retention pond.
The vehicle was located by the SCSO Search and Rescue unit and Diving Team, with retrieval efforts spanning into the early morning. According to FOX13 Memphis, the car was pulled from the water around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, with the woman's body inside. While initial assessments by the SCSO suggest there was no foul play involved, the investigation remains open until further details can be affirmed.
