Fairfield Municipal Court's current magistrate, Zachary Zoz, is set to ascend to the role of judge, a transition confirmed by an appointment from Gov. Mike DeWine. Zoz will officially take the bench on March 31, filling the vacancy left by Judge Joyce Campbell, who has stepped down from the post. According to Court News Ohio, Zoz's move from magistrate to judge isn't merely a title change. It also positions him to run to retain the seat, potentially coming in this November election.
Before being tapped to join the judicial world, Zoz was the founder of his law practice in Hamilton, which was established in 2006 and is still operational today. His legal career progressed as he became the Mason Municipal Court clerk in 2015. By 2021, he had advanced to become the court's chief magistrate. As per the same source, in 2023, Zoz got to actively serve as a judge for Fairfield Municipal Court, where he's currently fulfilling magistrate duties.
Zoz's academic credentials include a Juris doctorate, which he obtained from Ohio Northern University Petit College of Law in 2004. Prior to this achievement, he obtained a bachelor's degree in history from Thomas More College in 2001. His educational background forms part of his profile, as Zoz is keenly engaged with the law and participates in his local community.
Indeed, this community involvement is evident in his memberships with the Fairfield Rotary Club and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Such affiliations reflect Zoz's continued commitment to serve in his professional capacity and within the broader context of his community life. This dual service speaks to a character poised now to guide the Fairfield Municipal Court as its newest judge—assuming that he can also successfully manage to win the voters' favor come November. Until then, he will be preparing to transition to his new role at the end of the month, as reported by Court News Ohio.
