An Akron man has admitted to the murder of Trieg Schwab in a confrontation that turned fatal in 2023. Nevaeh Porterfield, 22, entered a guilty plea to a murder charge yesterday, as he was the last of four men involved in the incident to do so. The Summit County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Porterfield is being held on a $1 million bond at the Summit County Jail, as reported by cleveland.com.
Last year, Julian Sistrunk, 20, Austin Hottinger, 29; and Robert Greenlee, 20, had all pleaded guilty to conspiracy concerning the case. The confrontation took place at Schwab’s home on Chandler Avenue, where an argument escalated, and Porterfield shot Schwab twice in the chest before the defendants fled by bicycle, The Beacon Journal detailed.
As part of a plea agreement, additional charges against Porterfield, including two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and four firearm specifications, were dismissed. His plea includes a one-year firearm specification that may result in extra prison time, a detail noted in the news release by the county prosecutor's office, which WKYC covered.
Regarding the other co-defendants, Sistrunk, Hottinger, and Greenlee, their guilty pleas to conspiracy came with a three-year firearm specification. As the final defendant to admit guilt, Porterfield has his sentencing scheduled for April 14 at 11 a.m. This information comes from WKYC. The community awaits closure as this case, which has stretched over a year, finally nears its end with the court's forthcoming judgment on Porterfield.
