The Arizona Diamondbacks have opened a new sensory room at Chase Field to improve game-day experiences for fans with autism and sensory sensitivities. The room was officially opened last Friday during the team's Autism Awareness Night, in recognition of Autism Awareness Month, according to ABC15.

Derrick Hall, the president and CEO of the Diamondbacks, shared that the sensory room was created in response to fan feedback. He emphasized, "It’s going to be a safe place, a quiet place, comfortable place for them to go to and try and treat themselves to," as reported by ABC15. The sensory room is equipped with features like bubble walls, Yogibo bean bags, and tactile objects to create a calming environment at the ballpark. During the game against the Brewers, foam earplugs were provided to accommodate those sensitive to noise from SeatGeek's postgame fireworks. Special ticket offers for Autism Awareness Month were also made available through the Roman Empire Agency.

The sensory room, created through collaboration between Motorcycle Sports, a developmental disabilities agency, and sensory experts, is located on the Diamond Level near section 220 for easy access. It is designed to support individuals with sensory needs during games. This initiative is part of a larger effort to improve accessibility in entertainment venues and create a more inclusive experience for all attendees.
