A young life was tragically cut short in Arlington this week, following a collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The Arlington Police Department released information about the crash that claimed the life of an 18-year-old man on Monday afternoon, as reported by the City of Arlington
Officials were called to the scene at the S. Cooper Street and Inwood Drive intersection around 3:08 p.m., upon which they discovered the young motorcycle rider unresponsive on the road. Despite being quickly transported to an area hospital, the teenager succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses at the scene alleged that the motorcyclist had been lane splitting and driving in what was described as a reckless manner shortly before the crash occurred. Speed has not been ruled out as a contributory factor to the fatal incident.
The collision happened as the motorcycle, traveling southbound, struck the rear end of a 2013 Dodge Ram during its turn from the northbound lane onto Inwood Drive, with enough force to throw the motorcyclist from his bike. The pickup truck driver was reportedly cooperative with law enforcement and did not sustain any injuries. Presently, no criminal charges have been laid about the crash.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event is ongoing. The identity of the deceased will be released following confirmation and notification of next of kin by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. As the community grapples with this loss, it serves as a grim reminder of the inherent risks on the road, particularly for those on two wheels.
