Detroit's cityscape has received a significant boost with the unveiling of Bedrock's latest venture, The Department at Hudson's, a vast new event venue offering more than 15 unique and customizable spaces, located within Detroit's largest development in decades. Hudson's Detroit features 56,000 square feet of meeting and event space, according to The Detroit News.
At Hudson's Detroit, General Motors Co. has established its new global headquarters, with the complex serving as a symbol of the city's ongoing revitalization. Ivy Greaner, COO of Bedrock, highlighted the location's features, telling dbusiness, "Detroit is known as a top destination for events, conferences, and gatherings, and The Department at Hudson’s is the perfect setting to welcome guests from near and far." With downtown as its backdrop, Greaner assured an exceptional event experience within the versatile, technology-enhanced spaces.
The partnership with Marriott International is a strategic effort to reach a wider audience. Marriott International's COO for the U.S. West, Julius Robinson, emphasized the synergies to be expected from this partnership in a statement obtained by dbusiness: "We are excited to collaborate with Bedrock on this groundbreaking development, helping to bring unparalleled experiences to life for The Department’s guests." Marriott teams, alongside Forte Belanger, the exclusive food and beverage provider, are prepared to deliver a high standard of service.
SHoP Architects, who designed The Department, have integrated flexibility into the venue's essence, with features including heated terraces, advanced soundproofing, customizable audio/visual options, and automated seating systems. Despite the venue's clear emphasis on luxury, the practical needs of large-scale events have not been overlooked. Facilities include street-level access for large deliveries and on-site commercial catering kitchens, as detailed in an overview by mlive.
Along with The Department, the mixed-use skyscraper will include the Detroit EDITION hotel and The Residences at The Detroit EDITION, contributing to the Detroit skyline. Upon completion, it will become Michigan's second tallest building. The 1.5 million-square-foot development at Hudson’s Detroit will offer a variety of retail, office, dining, hospitality, residential, and event spaces along the 1200 block of Woodward Avenue.
