The City of Bellevue is calling for civic-minded residents interested in influencing their community’s future to step forward, as the city looks to fill upcoming vacancies on several key boards and commissions. The volunteer positions, which are crucial to advising the City Council on significant policy and project decisions, are open to applicants ready to engage in shaping the trajectory of the city across various sectors including environmental services, parks and community services, and transportation.
According to an announcement on Bellevue’s official website, the city’s Environmental Services Commission is searching for individuals to provide insights on utilities management encompassing water, wastewater, stormwater systems, and more, with meetings slated for the first Thursday of each month; the Parks & Community Services Board, which convenes every third Wednesday, is on the lookout for guidance in park planning and the development of community services measures; and the Transportation Commission needs advisors to discuss and propose policies on transportation projects and traffic standards, which gathers on the second Thursday with an occasional additional meeting on the fourth.
While the majority of these openings require candidates to be Bellevue residents, the Environmental Services Commission uniquely extends its eligibility to those living within the Bellevue Utilities service area. Highlighting its commitment to inclusivity, the city encourages a diverse pool of applicants to bring their perspectives to these influential groups. Individuals with an interest have until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 14 to submit their applications for consideration by either using the convenient online form or picking up a printed copy at various local outlets including the City Clerk’s Office and select libraries.
