Following a series of events that culminated in a non-fatal shooting last month, Boston Police have announced the arrest of 42-year-old Robert Rutledge. Detained near 10 Callendar Street in Boston, the apprehension occurred yesterday morning, with Rutledge facing multiple charges tied to firearm and drug violations. According to the official statement by the Boston Police Department, Rutledge was wanted on an outstanding Dorchester District Court warrant for a host of offenses including Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License and Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building.
The suspect's litany of alleged crimes also involves narcotics, as officers uncovered one plastic bag containing medication pills and another with crack cocaine during his arrest. Consequently, Rutledge now faces additional charges of Possession of Class B, and two counts of Possession of Class E. An active warrant was also in place from Brockton District Court, where he is wanted for Malicious Destruction of Property under $1,200.
Investigative details into the March 27 shooting reveal that officers, after responding to a call near 247 Woodrow Avenue in Mattapan, learned from operations at a local hospital that a shooting victim with non-life threatening injuries had been admitted. The scene on Woodrow Avenue, where the shooting allegedly took place, yielded ballistic evidence within an apartment. Rutledge, associated with the events of that evening, is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court concerning these incidents.
