The Parks & Open Space Foundation, an organization championing the connection between Boulder County's outdoor spaces and its public, has officially unveiled the recipients of its 2025 grant awards. Operating as a non-profit and buoyed by contributions from the local populace, the foundation this year has channeled its resources into backing projects with a particular focus on aiding communities that have historically been on the fringes. Additionally, they're emphasizing initiatives that promote collaboration and cross-pollination with partner organizations.
In light of the tougher financial landscape, the foundation has opted to tighten its purse strings, guaranteeing funding for selected projects only up to a three-year maximum. It's imperative to highlight that the awards aim to balance the scales of environmental engagement, shipping grants to endeavors like the Harvest of All First Nations, which was awarded $25,000 for their 2025 Corn Festival, and El Centro Amistad's Tierra y Alma (Earth and Soul) project, also receiving $25,000, according to Boulder County Parks & Open Space.
Not to be overshadowed, the Boulder County Parks & Open Space’s project, Las Aventuras de San Lazaro, was granted a modest $2,200, a sum that promises to stretch far under the stewardship of those who intimately know the lay of the land. Meanwhile, Environment for the Americas has been earmarked $27,544 to create Accessible Outdoor Experiences, surely an investment to ensure all community members can equally enjoy the natural bounty Boulder has to offer.
