Boulder's own Boulder Fire-Rescue has once again proven its commitment to high standards and community safety. As per the City of Boulder, the department has been reaccredited by the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE). A peer review conducted in November 2024 put the department through a thorough examination, resulting in Boulder Fire-Rescue joining an elite group of more than 300 agencies carrying the title of Internationally Accredited Agency with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).
The CPSE accreditation process, recognized for its intensity and comprehensiveness, dives into numerous aspects of the department's operations, including emergency response, training, and leadership. As obtained by the City of Boulder, Fire Chief Michael Calderazzo shared, "Being reaccredited by CPSE is more than just an honor — it means we keep our promise to continuously improve." This sentiment echoes the department's commitment to refining how it protects lives and property while perpetually reviewing and elevating its standards.
Boulder Fire-Rescue's dedication to embodying its principles, oriented around the community, driven by data, and focused on outcomes, is evident in this achievement. With safety at the forefront of their mission, the department aims to maintain a people-first approach, striving for excellence in every aspect of their operation. City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde lauded the department's professionalism and dedication, stating, "This recognition by CFAI is a powerful testament to the dedication, professionalism, and hard work of Boulder Fire-Rescue," according to the City of Boulder.
