Brooklyn has been rocked by a tragic accident that snatched away the lives of a mother and her two daughters, leaving a 4-year-old boy, Philip Saada, in a battle for his life. According to ABC7NY, the boy's condition remains severe, and this has led to the removal of one of his kidneys.

In the aftermath of the incident, Miriam Yarimi, a Brooklyn wigmaker, faces multiple charges, including three counts of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. The Brooklyn District Attorney, Eric Gonzalez, has dubbed her actions as beyond reckless and assured that such behavior will not be tolerated. It was reported by ABC7NY that Yarimi was supposedly driving close to twice the speed limit and had a history of running red lights.

The fatal event took place over the past weekend, placing several other lives in jeopardy as well. Yarimi's uncontrollable vehicle not only caused the death of Natasha Saada and her daughters, aged 8 and 5, but also resulted in minor injuries to five individuals in an Uber. As reported by The New York Post, the driver was hospitalized and is undergoing a medical evaluation at Bellevue Hospital.

Despite these tragic events, the city has observed the lowest number of car-related deaths in the past three months since 2018. Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez asserted that the focus is to change the culture of road usage, ensuring that the safety of the city's most vulnerable, like cyclists and pedestrians, is prioritized. "What we are doing is more than controlling the speeding, changing the culture, people have to realize that we live in the modern city, that if you drive in the highway, you don't compete with anybody else more than drivers, but if you're in the street, there are cyclists, pedestrians and we have to protect the most vulnerable New Yorkers," Rodriguez said in a statement obtained by ABC7NY.

In the face of this devastating ordeal, the community and city officials have come together to support the Saada family. Comptroller Brad Lander and City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams made heartfelt visits to the family to mourn alongside them as they sat shiva. "I will continue to pray for this family," declared Adams, as reported by The New York Post.
