In observance of Good Friday, Cabarrus County is taking a pause with most government facilities closing their doors on April 18. The brief hiatus includes a host of public spaces – from the Government Center to the Veteren's Services Office – as confirmed by the county's official announcement.
Despite the temporary shuttering of administrative operations, nature's gates will remain open; all Cabarrus County parks are keeping their usual hours from Friday through Monday. For residents inclined toward literary endeavors or looking for a tranquil escape, libraries will swing back into service come April 19 from 10 a.m. until the evening, save for the Midland branch where the hum of repaving work will continue.
As the holiday weekend rolls on, if you're sitting on a pile of batteries or paint cans needing to make an eco-friendly exit, the Household Hazardous Waste collection event slated for Saturday might be your ticket. Find your way to 246 General Services Drive SW in Concord between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. to dispose of those unwanted materials responsibly. This and more details are available on the Cabarrus County's news release.
If your trash is piling up, don’t worry—Republic Services will continue curbside garbage and recycling pickup in unincorporated areas, even during Easter. Also, the Board of Commissioners meeting normally held on the third Monday of April has been moved to April 22 at 6 p.m. It will be available to watch live for those interested.
To stay looped into the comings and goings of Cabarrus, virtual doors are always open via the county website and their social media footprint on Facebook and Instagram.
