Residents of Carrollton have something new to explore at their local public libraries—a revamped online catalog system. Following a shutdown to upgrade the digital infrastructure from March 28 through March 31, the Carrollton Public Library reopened its virtual doors to a more accessible and user-friendly experience. The transformation was primarily based on community input gathered from last year's Citizen Feedback Survey, ensuring residents' needs guided the update.

Now live, the online catalog flaunts various modern features, including refined search options, viewing all available material formats such as eBooks and audiobooks, and seamless integration with digital services like hoopla and CloudLibrary. The temporary shutdown also affected library goers, closing both Josey Ranch Lake and Hebron & Josey locations, making all in-person and online services, save for CloudLibrary items, temporarily inaccessible, according to a statement from the City of Carrollton.

The new software supports multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Korean, and simplified Chinese, to ensure all patrons feel welcome. It also boasts a responsive design for mobile devices and tablets. To make trips to the library smoother, users can manage multiple family accounts under one main user, opt for preferred pickup branches, and utilize a digital barcode for checkout.

However, some things didn't transfer automatically. For security reasons, users' previous passwords were reset, with the last four digits of their phone number temporarily filling in until a new one was chosen. To ease into the new system, users are encouraged to visit the library's help page for FAQs or to reach out for support.
