U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Hidalgo International Bridge recently arrested Gonzalo Galvan Beltran, a 55-year-old man from Pharr, Texas, who was wanted for kidnapping. He was detained on Tuesday after arriving from Mexico and being identified as a match for an existing arrest warrant, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

During a routine screening at a bridge checkpoint, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers identified Beltran and confirmed an outstanding warrant for aggravated kidnapping for ransom/reward from March 2023. The warrant was verified through biometric screening, and the charge is classified as a first-degree felony in Texas. Authorities had been searching for Beltran for over a year. "CBP screens all travelers entering the United States. We are committed to bringing in those wanted individuals to face their criminal charges," said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez.

Beltran was handed over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department after his identity and warrant were confirmed. His case is now moving through the judicial system. Criminal charges are allegations, and Beltran is considered innocent until proven guilty. More information on the Immigration Inspection Program and border security measures is available on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's official website.
