In honor of National Volunteer Week, the Cedar Hill Police Department has turned the community’s attention to its dedicated Citizens on Patrol (C.O.P.s) volunteers. These local heroes have been instrumental in supporting the police department by directing traffic, patrolling neighborhoods, and ensuring the smooth operation of community events.
The C.O.P.s, a core part of the Cedar Hill Police Academy Alumni Association, logged a substantial 6,200 volunteer hours in 2024. The Cedar Hill Police Department, through a social media post, expressed its gratitude: "Their hard work and dedication to this city does not go unnoticed." The department also extended special congratulations to Carlos Dannenberg, who received the 2024 Volunteer of the Year award.
Volunteers are essential for the lifeblood of community safety, assisting in various non-enforcement activities that free up law enforcement officers for more critical tasks. Furthermore, the Citizens on Patrol program fosters a closer relationship between the community and law enforcement, promoting a cooperative environment conducive to public safety.
