The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) has confirmed that 53-year-old pedestrian Terry Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle, which authorities are now working to identify.
The CMPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit, along with the DWI Task Force and Crime Scene Search (CSS), swiftly responded after North Division officers received the call at around 1:21 a.m. yesterday. Despite efforts, no vehicle was found at the crash site when emergency services arrived – the suspect had already fled, leaving behind only the dire consequences of their actions. According to the initial report, the vehicle in question is a grey or charcoal Honda CRV, model year 2017 to 2019.
"The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is actively working to identify the Honda CRV," said the official statement from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
