Voters in Clackamas County are reminded that the deadline to verify or update voter registration is on Tuesday next week, in advance of the Special District Election on May 20. To be eligible to register, individuals must be a resident of Oregon, a U.S. citizen, and at least 16 years of age (although voting eligibility begins at 18), as per the Clackamas County release.
Residents with a valid Oregon driver's license or state ID may complete their registration online at OregonVotes.gov. For those without an Oregon ID, a paper voter registration card is required, which can be obtained from locations such as the local post office, public libraries, or the Clackamas County Elections office in Oregon City.
For those already registered, it is essential to confirm that personal information, such as name and address, is up to date. Changes may be made online or by submitting a mail-in registration card. On the registration deadline date, the Clackamas County Elections office will remain open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate any last-minute registration requests.
Voters planning to be out of town on election day may request an absentee ballot. Additionally, voters can register for free ballot tracking notifications via text, phone, or email to ensure timely confirmation of their ballot status.
This week, the Clackamas County Voters' Pamphlet, which includes detailed information on candidates and measures, will be mailed to households. It will also be available online. For in-person assistance or to address issues such as lost ballots, voters may visit either the main elections office in Oregon City or a temporary vote center at the Happy Valley Library, which will be operational starting Friday next week.
Ballots will be distributed starting Wednesday next week. If a ballot has not been received by May 8, voters should contact the county elections office for assistance. Extended service hours will be available on May 19 and May 20 to support voters. For additional information, including access to a multilingual voter’s guide, please visit the Clackamas County Elections website.
