
The Clark County Fire Department responded to a brush fire at Wetlands Park on Wednesday evening near the Duck Creek Trailhead. Fire officials received distress calls just after 7 p.m. reporting the fire on the east side of the wash along the north end of the riverbank, according to FOX5 Vegas.
Fire crews responded to a blaze that had spread approximately 300 yards by 50 feet in a nature preserve. The Bureau of Land Management provided support with wildland fire crews and utility terrain vehicles to assist in containment efforts. This fire comes just one week after a previous blaze that scorched about 34 acres, marking the second fire to affect the park in just over a week, as per FOX5 Vegas.
The Clark County Fire Department, with assistance from the Bureau of Land Management, managed to stop the fire's forward progression at Wetlands Park. Firefighters are working to extinguish remaining hotspots, as reported by News3LV. The repeated fires at the park continue to raise local concerns, with authorities and firefighting teams focused on protecting the area and containing the threat.
