As families gear up for a weekend filled with festivities, the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas is prepping its grounds to host the annual Día del Niño Family Festival. With an atmosphere primed for celebration, children and adults alike can mark their calendars for Saturday for a completely free experience.

According to an announcement on the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture’s bulletin, the festival promises a colorful medley of activities running from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Assembly, located at 2600 Live Oak, invites Dallas’ public to engage in a range of art activities, storytimes, live performances, and more. Sprinkled throughout the day, attendees can indulge in a variety of activities, including jewelry-making and planting their mini potted plants. The agenda also features multiple interactive storytimes with a guest appearance by Arco by the Mural at intervals throughout the day.

But wait, it's not just arts and crafts. The festival lineup boasts a slew of live performances, kicking off with BombazoDFW's Afro-Caribbean drumming and dance at 11:00 AM. An hour later, the Le Theatre de Marionette Puppet Show takes the stage, followed by a magic show, mariachi performances, and Prism Movement Theatre’s presentation, to name a few. DJ Priest will set the lobby ablaze, spinning tracks that promise to be a hit with the crowd.

Moreover, the event extends beyond the walls of the Latino Cultural Center. Iconic Dallas institutions, such as the Perot Museum, Nasher, and Dallas Libraries, will host interactive tables to fuel the intellectual curiosity of young minds. For those with a competitive streak or an appetite, the festival includes a dog presentation, alongside traditional Lotería and outdoor games. To satiate festival-goers’ hunger, a variety of food trucks will be stationed in the courtyard, serving up delicious bites throughout the day.
