A traffic stop led by Dallas police has resulted in an in-custody death, which is now the focus of both police and district attorney investigations. According to the Dallas Police Department, the incident transpired yesterday morning when Dallas officers pulled over a vehicle after discovering the driver had two outstanding felony warrants.
After being stopped on C.F. Hawn Freeway and North Jim Miller Road, the driver began experiencing chest pains, and Dallas Fire Rescue was called to the scene around 1:48 a.m. Although he was subsequently medically cleared, he was then transported to Southeast Patrol Station for an interview. During the transition to the interview room, the driver once more claimed that he was feeling ill. Dallas Fire Rescue was called again, but despite their swift response, the man was pronounced dead at the station.
This case has prompted multiple entities to launch inquiries, with the Dallas Police Special Investigations Unit taking the lead under case numbers 059924-2025 and 059953-2025, as they work to unveil the circumstances surrounding the individual's death.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office has also been notified and will conduct its investigation, ensuring a separate layer of scrutiny. The Office of Community Police Oversight has also been informed, which provides an additional layer of oversight over the incident’s unfolding narrative and the police department's response.
