Dearborn has renamed several city spaces to recognize the contributions of notable community members. The Dearborn City Council approved the changes through a resolution introduced by Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud, according to the City of Dearborn’s official website.

Hubbard Manor West has been renamed Mayor John B. O’Reilly Jr. Manor, honoring the former mayor’s long service to the city. On Tuesday last week the Dearborn Historical Museum offices were renamed the Jack Tate Museum Offices, recognizing Chief Curator Jack Tate’s 40 years of work preserving Dearborn’s history.

The rotunda gallery at the Henry Ford Centennial Library is now named the EmmaJean Woodyard Gallery, acknowledging her leadership in the city’s arts community.

In East Dearborn, Hubbard Manor East was renamed Suzanne Sareini Manor, in honor of Suzanne Sareini, the first Arab-American to serve on the City Council. She served for 24 years, and this marks the first time a city building has been named after a female leader.

An official naming ceremony for Suzanne Sareini Manor is planned for this summer, with more details to be shared on Dearborn’s government website and social media channels.
