DeKalb County is stepping up its efforts to foster neighborhood pride and environmental responsibility with the recent “Spring Forward” Beautification and Code Compliance Town Hall. The gathering, part of a broad initiative to enhance DeKalb's livability, invited locals to engage and learn about maintaining cleaner, safer spaces. The town hall echoed a message of joint responsibility, underlining the community's role in supporting a cleaner county.
Held over a midday meal, the event played host to DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and COO Zach Williams, who shared insights on the county's plans for a visually and ecologically improved environment. "As CEO, I am committed to working together to build clean streets and safe spaces we can all be proud of," Cochran-Johnson told the DeKalb County News. "This is a shared responsibility. The people of DeKalb deserve a beautiful community that enhances their quality of life."
Among the tools and materials provided, attendees benefited from educational presentations—dealt by leaders of various county departments—on best practices in sanitation and code compliance. Tracy Hutchinson, the director of Sanitation and Beautification, and Tim Hardy, the deputy director of Code Compliance, took center stage to impart valuable knowledge to residents.
Highlighting the event's collaborative spirit, Tracy Hutchinson shared his gratification for being part of these community-driven efforts. “It was an honor to be invited by Madam CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson to join this important effort," Hutchinson expressed in a statement reported by DeKalb County News. “Beautification is more than just cleaning up — it’s about building pride, strengthening neighborhoods, and working together to create a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant DeKalb.”
