Over the weekend, the streets near Swansea Elementary transformed into a playground of service vehicles for the Denver Police Department's "Touch a Truck" event. In a social media post published by the Denver Police, families were invited to get hands-on with the machinery and gear that aid in the city's protection. According to the Denver Police Department, children of all ages could experience everything from police cruisers to massive semi-trucks.
Denver Police officers from District 2 coordinated the event, showcasing an array of vehicles, including those from the Denver Sheriff's Department and the National Western Center. "It was a truck-load of fun," as described by the Denver Police Department. The occasion also served as an educational opportunity, with organizations like the Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority on hand to offer insights into their roles within community safety.
Not just for sheer entertainment, the event also fostered a camaraderie between law enforcement and community members, strengthening the bond through educational interaction. The Denver Police Museum, Denver Parks & Rec, as well as other participating entities contributed to the successful demonstration of service vehicles and their functions.
