A Maryland man has been handed a sentence of 10 years in prison following a violent confrontation with his romantic partner. Aron Williams, 33, from District Heights, pleaded guilty to assault with intent to kill earlier this year and has now been given a decade behind bars, plus three years of supervised release by D.C. Superior Court Judge Jason Park, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

During the incident, which took place on February 23, 2024, an argument between Williams and the victim escalated into a physical attack. After strangling her, Williams inflicted wounds with a hunting knife, stabbing her ten times - the cuts were severe, leaving her bleeding profusely. Even though the incident forced the victim and her son to make an urgent 911 call, Williams fled the scene before the authorities arrived.

The surgery required to mend the damage was extensive, with emergency procedures necessary to repair a cut to the wrist and stitches to seal wounds on the victim's mouth, arms, and legs. Having admitted to the assault, Williams was sentenced today, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. and MPD Chief Pamela Smith issued joint statements commend the investigative efforts that led to the resolution of the case. Special acknowledgment was given to Assistant U.S. Attorney Callie Hyde for her role in prosecuting the matter.
