Rising waters and adverse weather conditions have necessitated several road closures in Dyer County, disrupting the flow of traffic and prompting local authorities to issue warnings to commuters. The Dyer County Sheriff's Office took to social media to inform residents of imminent road closures and the potential need for evacuations in certain areas.
According to a Facebook post by the Dyer County Sheriff's Office, Highway 78 at Bogota will "soon be closed at the intersection of Hwy 103" due to hazardous water spilling over the road. The message stressed extreme caution, indicating that "Emergency personnel may be conducting evacuations in this area" and that residents should remain vigilant when near the affected zone.
In addition to Highway 78, the Sheriff's Office also reported that State Route 210 is terminated between Highway 412 and Highway 51, and the westbound lanes of Highway 412 are obstructed at the Forked Deer River bridge. Travelers can take solace; however, eastbound lanes to Crockett/Jackson remain navigable.
The Dyer County Sheriff's Office concluded its advisory by urging community members to "Drive safely and plan your routes accordingly."
