Early this morning, residents of a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex were jolted awake as a fire tore through multiple units, necessitating a substantial emergency response and leaving several without a home. According to KOCO, the Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to the scene near Hefner Road and MacArthur Boulevard at approximately 2 a.m.
While battling the blaze, firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the fire, which resulted in damage to two apartments. Furthermore, two residents were left with no choice but to seek alternative housing. Major Bo Woodard of the Oklahoma City Fire Department, in a statement given to KFOR, detailed that "whenever crews arrived on scene, we did have fire coming out of the first and second floor of the three story apartment building."
Notably, the impact of the fire extended beyond the visibly charred units. As per News9, several additional units sustained smoke damage; however, the residents of those units were fortunate not to require relocation. Unfortunately, two individuals required medical treatment for smoke inhalation, emphasizing the human toll of the early morning disaster. The number of residents affected by smoke or fire damage is unclear, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
