The Everett community is set to celebrate creativity in a big way as the City of Everett and Everett's Cultural Arts Commission host the much-anticipated annual Wendt and Mayor's Arts Awards. Marking the calendar for an evening of artistic acknowledgments today, the Everett Performing Arts Center will be where locals can engage with the vibrant expressions of their city's talent. Promising a lineup that features a variety of performers—from the youthful tunes of Making Waves to the cultural melodies of Huong Viet Performing Arts Group.
Launching with a social hour at 6 p.m., where mingle with complimentary hors d'oeuvres, the awards program will kick off at 7 p.m. Welcoming everyone with open arms, residents are encouraged to step into the Everett Performing Arts Center at 2710 Wetmore Ave. and immerse themselves in the creative spirit free of charge, as per the City of Everett.
Among those honored, Brenda Stonecipher stands out, having been chosen by Mayor Franklin and the commission for the Richard & Nancy Wendt Award of Excellence. This accolade holds a deep connection to the city's past, saluting those who, like its namesakes, Dr. Richard Wendt, who left us in 2007, and his wife Nancy, who joined him in the spring of 2021, have shown steadfast support for arts and culture throughout their lives.
In addition to this prestigious award, this year's Mayor's Arts Award recipients include individuals and groups who have significantly enriched Everett's artistic landscape. Bunker Arts Collective, Christopher Gove of Teen Storytellers Project, Huong Viet Performing Arts Group, and Leland Dart all clinch the honor this time around, each contributing to the city's vibrant cultural scene in their own unique way. Celebrating their contributions, Everett's artistic scene gets another chance to shine and inspire others.
