Boston will soon bid farewell to a vibrant fixture of its nightlife scene as D's Keys, the dueling piano bar known for its interactive music fun, is set to close its doors for good. After close to seven years, the cozy spot on 391 D Street will end its run with a series of final shows. As posted on the bar’s Facebook and confirmed in an Instagram post, the sing-along establishment will close permanently after its last shows on April 26.

The bar has been a go-to destination for those looking to engage directly with live music entertainment – paying to request songs or to playfully embarrass friends on a publicly visible glass board. Patrons have been encouraged to make the most of the remaining nights. "It is with great sadness that we must announce that we are closing forever on April 26, which means we only have 6 more nights of sing-along fun to share with you," the Instagram post read as per MassLive. As the final evenings approach, D's Keys continue to instead invite walk-ins and reservation holders.

In a joint statement obtained by MassLive, managing partners Matt Nichols and Robert Morse cited financial difficulties as the reason for their business's unfortunate end. "We wanted to say thanks to everyone in Boston for their support over nearly seven years in business. Unfortunately, while we tried everything that we could, we simply were unable to make it work in today's economic environment," they expressed. The partners also emphasized the importance of continuing support for live music venues and local musicians.

Since opening in August 2018, D's Keys has offered a unique experience with interactive musical performances that encourage guest participation. The "Wheel of Destiny" and other in-house challenges like "Junk in the Trunk" provided additional entertainment options for visitors. Matt Nichols once told MassLive, “We just want to have fun. We want everyone to feel good about being here together.” The venue, open from Thursday to Sunday, with shows starting at 8 p.m., has been accepting reservations through their website or by calling directly, all while also welcoming guests without prior bookings for a cover charge.
